1. Private preview
leg.pub is a private preview of new technology. Access is granted by approval, person by person, and may change or end at any time while the preview runs. Features, coverage, and limits will change as the tool develops. We ask every participant for feedback. Feedback is how the tool improves. Participation can lead to discounted usage when leg.pub becomes a paid service. Preview access creates no entitlement to future access or pricing.
2. Accuracy
We vet the data and every generated briefing. Records come from the most recent official sources and update continuously. Generated work passes automated review before it reaches you. Vetting reduces errors. It does not eliminate them. Records can lag the institutions that publish them. Extraction can misread a document. Generated analysis can be wrong. Verify anything you rely on against the cited official sources before you act on it or publish it. leg.pub is a research tool, not legal advice. No output constitutes an official record of Congress.
3. How long answers take
Every question triggers research over an enormous body of records. Drafting and independent review follow before the answer reaches you. Expect several minutes for a briefing, not seconds. The wait is the vetting working.
4. Attribution
The underlying government records are public. leg.pub owns what it adds: the assembled dataset, the change history, and the generated analyses and briefings. Use your briefings and the data freely inside your own organization, without credit. Credit leg.pub as the source when you publish or redistribute leg.pub material outside your organization, including data tables, computed statistics, or excerpts of generated analysis. Link to leg.pub where the medium allows. Never present leg.pub output as an official government publication. Never remove citations from generated work before sharing it.
5. Your account
Accounts are personal. Account sharing is prohibited. Your credentials are for you alone, and each person using leg.pub needs an approved account of their own. Keep your password private. You are responsible for activity under your account. Have colleagues request their own accounts if they need access. We approve individuals during the preview, not organizations.
6. Acceptable use
Use leg.pub through its interface. Do not scrape the site, bulk export the dataset, resell access, probe or overload the service, or run automated agents against it. Do not submit classified, confidential, or personally sensitive information in questions or feedback. Treat what you type as material our team may review while improving the tool.
7. Feedback and your data
We store your account details, your tracked bills and issues, your questions, and the briefings generated for you. We review usage in aggregate to improve the tool. We may use your feedback without restriction or obligation to improve leg.pub. We do not sell your data. We do not share your individual activity outside leg.pub.
8. The usual conditions
The preview is provided as-is, without warranties. We accept no liability, to the fullest extent permitted by law, for decisions made or losses incurred in reliance on the preview. We may update these terms as the preview evolves. Material changes will be flagged at sign-in. You accept updated terms by continuing to use the preview after a change. Either side can end participation at any time. You end it by ceasing use. We end it by suspending the account, with notice except in cases of abuse.
Send questions about these terms with your account request, or use the feedback channel once you have access.
